"BECOMING AN ACTOR"

(Question) What do I need to get started?
(Answer) The two most important things you need to get started are Headshots and a Resume. Headshots are usually from the chest up. Some Actors like to use a combination of a 3/4 shot and a Headshot on their reproductions.

(Question) Where can I go to get reproductions of my original photos?
(Answer) A great place to go is Prints Charm'n, Inc.. They use a good quality of paper and make the best reproductions around.

(Question) Once I have my Headshot and Resume what do I do?
(Answer) You need representation. The best way is to submit your Headshot, Resume and a Note to the Talent Agencie asking for representation.

(Question) Why can't I phone the Talent Agencies?
(Answer) Talent Agencies would rather you "Snail Mail" your Headshot, Resume with a Note asking for representation.

(Question) Can a resume be too wordy?
(Answer) Yes, try to keep it simple no one wants to read a book.

(Question) How do I make a Resume with no experience?
(Answer) Remember everyone has to start somewhere. Try typing in your Name, a contact Phone Number, Height, Weight, Hair Color, Color of Eyes, Accents, Languages ETC. and then you even throw in Special Skills: (Here are a few suggestions) Horseback Riding; Motorcycles; Snow Skiing; Ice Skating; Bungee Jumping; Pole Vaulting; Football; Baseball; Basketball; Surfing; Dance; Tennis; Jogging; Juggling; Mime; Yoga; Martial Arts; Gymnastics; Swimming; Bowling; Golf; Fishing; Bicycling ETC. ETC. ETC..

(Question) When I submit a Headshot & Resume to a Talent Agency should write a note?
(Answer) Yes! They like a small hand written note asking for representation.

(Question) Can I put my name and phone number on my reproductions (headshots)?
(Answer) You could put your name on them, but a phone number, what if you change your phone number or answering service in 6 months after printing up 300 copies?

(Question) Should I have my resume printed on the back of my reproductions (headshots) ?
(Answer) You could, but what if you change agencies or want to update your resume in 6 months after printing up 300 copies?

(Question) How much does a Talent Agent get?
(Answer) Talent Agencies should be Franchised by Screen Actors Guild (SAG). They receive 10 % of an Actor's wages and that is only if a Talent Agent gets you the job and only if you get paid for the job. For Models the percentage may vary.
